blind spot light

blind spot light

At the center of blind spot light is the experience of clarity and blurriness. In his solo, Jan Machacek manipulates the contours of bodies and spaces and at the same time examines the blind spots of his own perception. The performance is inspired by Ingeborg Bachmann’s story Ihr glücklichen Augen (1972). The protagonist of the story has a severe visual impairment. However, she refuses to wear glasses and only has a blurred perception of her surroundings. Machacek’s performance asks how much clarity we can gain about ourselves and our lives.

A performance from a single source: light and music, movement of the original and the images of the virtual doppelganger, everything is finely coordinated.
