shadow replay is a digital shadow play. In it, Jan Machacek sheds light on his position as an Austrian in Mexico in the field of tension between the colonial past and the globalized present. The soundtrack is formed by conversations with people in Mexico, in which a colonial heritage shines through in personal experiences. These off-screen voices talk about the relationships between employers and domestic workers or about the surreal encounter between a Mexican astronaut and the U.S. president. To the music of Mexican composer Juan Sebastián Lach and in interaction with various image apparatuses, a journey between documentary and poetic essay is created.
